The name and billing address on a card

Which name and address to enter at a checkout, and how to choose the name for a new card.

The name on the card

When you request a new card you can type the name that should appear on it. If you leave the field empty, the card gets a standard name. The name is shown under Cards with a copy button.

At a checkout, enter the name exactly as it appears under Cards. A different name is a common reason for declines at stricter merchants.

The name cannot be changed after the card is issued. If you need a different one, request a new card.

The billing address

Each card has a billing address, shown under Cards. Use that address, not your home address, whenever a checkout asks for the card's billing details. Copy it as it is: street, city, state or region, postcode and country.

Your own address

Some merchants also ask for a delivery address or an account address. Those are separate from the card's billing address, and you can use your own.

If a checkout keeps refusing the address

Some forms are built for one country's address format. Try entering the street in the first line, leave the second line empty, and pick the country from the list rather than typing it. If it still fails, open a ticket with the merchant's name.
