Issue fee and load charge

The two fees, when each applies and how the total is worked out, with examples.

There are two fees. The request page lists both up front, and sending the request locks the total in place.

Issue fee

$5.00, once per new card. It is charged when a card is created and never again for that card. Reloads do not carry it.

Load charge

15% of every amount you put on a card. It applies to the first amount on a new card and to every reload.

How the total is worked out

  • New card: amount + load charge + issue fee.
  • Reload: amount + load charge.

The calculator on the pricing page and the preview on the request page use the same calculation as our server.

Example

With the current settings, putting $100.00 on a new card costs $100.00, plus 15% of $100.00, plus $5.00. Adding $100.00 to a card you already have costs the same minus the issue fee.

Fees that come from elsewhere

Network fees, exchange withdrawal fees and wallet fees are charged by others, not by us. Add them on top of the total when you send a manual transfer.

When fees change

If we change a fee, requests you already sent keep the total that was fixed on them. The new fee applies to new requests only.

Refunds and fees

Fees are not refunded, even when a card's balance is. See Which cards qualify for a refund.
